Basic Instructions:
1. Mix
Cloud White and Pine Green paint to achieve a pale green for your base coating the
pots. Apply to all surfaces that will be visible using the 1" flat
brush. Allow this to dry. If coverage is not complete, re-apply. Clean
brush. (Note: If you wish to use this pot for live plants with soil and water, you
will need to coat the inside of the pot with Clear Coat).
2. Cut apart the stencils with scissors. Apply spray
adhesive to the back of the
stencil and allow it to dry until tacky. Position the stencil on the side of the
rim and pot. Use the masking tape to secure the edges of the stencils. With a
stencil brush, lightly pick up a small amount of Pot O' Gold on the brush and blot excess
off onto a paper towel. Then, lightly dab color onto the bow areas of the
stencil. Use this technique for all the other areas of the stencil, using Geranium
Red for poinsettias and berries and Pine Green for holly leaves.
3. Keep in mind that variations in colors and tones may
be achieved by using different colors and different amounts of paint together.
4. Now, you'll need to cut the styrofoam/foam board into
circles that will fit into the interior of the pots to hold up the top pot and to
give you a base to secure your greenery (and to hold the candle in the top pot). To
measure the correct size, turn the pot upside down and trace around the top. Cut it
out and trim it to sit inside the pot approximately 1" down.
5. Add your finishing touches by arranging and securing
the greenery to the styrofoam/foam board inside each pot. In the styrofoam/foam
board for the top pot, cut a hole just large enough to hold the candle securely in
place. (Note: To secure the candle in place, push the top of the candle through the
bottom of the foam board. Other methods will make your hole too large).
6. Finish your centerpiece by stacking the top pot on the bottom pot. Some
adjusting and/or trimming of the foam board in the bottom pot may be necessary to
straighten the look.
